Granite is a very hard, crystalline, igneous rock, varying from grey to pink in colour, composed of feldspar, quartz, and lesser amounts of dark ferromagnesium materials.
Granite also has a higher absorption rate as and/or a lower abrasion resistance than may be expected. Some granite is resin-treated to enhance the colour and fortify the surface of the stone.
